Over the past month I have been using Sibu Beauty's Sea Buckthorn Repair & Protect Facial Cream and Sea Buckthorn Omega 7 Cellular Support Supplements. At first I was slightly weary, as I had never even heard of sea buckthorn berries before. They provided a wonderful pamphlet with lots of information and education on their products. Sea buckthorn berries contain over 190 bioactive nutrients, including vitamins A, C, E, and K. They are also loaded with essential Omega fatty acids, including the unique and elusive Omega 7, which helps neutralize free radicals and aids the production of collagen.

 

Sibu Beauty's Repair & Protect Facial Cream is one of the best moisturizers that I have ever used. The texture is very light and silky, not heavy or greasy at all. It made my skin feel smoother and softer immediately. I found myself reapplying it multiple times a day because I just loved the way it felt. I really started to feel results after only a few days. My skin feels softer and younger. The best part of this facial cream, is that my skin LOOKS better too. I suffered from adult acne and as a result have a lot of spots and uneven tone. The spots have faded somewhat dramatically for only using the product for less than a month! Another great thing- you don't have to use a lot. Like I said, I have been applying this product multiple times a day and it looks like I've hardly even made a dent in the pump. I am absolutely hooked on this cream, I think it would really take a lot to make me switch now!



 

I've also been taking the Sea Buckthorn Omega 7 Cellular Support Supplements for a little less than a month now. I am a huge supporter of taking care of your body from the inside out with supplements, so these were right up my alley! The supplements are certified organic and Kosher and are also 100% vegan- no wondering about scary hidden ingredients here! Like I said above, I saw great results with my skin, I'm sure these very much aided that, but its hard to have a concrete answer for that since its not something you can feel and touch like the Repair & Protect Cream. I will say, though, that I have physically felt better. My body doesn't feel as slow and sluggish as it did before, I also feel like I have more energy. Sure, there are other supplements out there that help the appearance of your skin, but do those supplements contain over 190 nutrients and Omega 7? I think not! These are definitely something that will be added to my daily routine for the long run!

Holiday Gift Guide 2012: Monster High: Ghouls Rule DVD

 

My family and I had the opportunity to review Mattel's Monster High: Ghouls Rule recently. I have to say, this was my first experience with anything Monster High. I've actually never been a fan of the whole "vampires & zombies" craze, so I just avoided anything that even might fit that description. I invited my neice over to watch it, since I wasn't sure of the age appropriateness for my own children. It turns out that while I think that the Monster High brand is more geared towards the 7-9 crowd, there is absolutely nothing offensive in the movie that would make it something that the younger kids can't watch too. Even my 5 year old boy and 30 year old husband got into it! I was expecting simple entertainment, but there was actually a strong moral teaching to the story. The Monster Girls were always told to stay inside on Halloween because being out and about would cause friction with the "normies". The girls decided that they wouldn't hide, and that they would unite with the normies to prove that all walks of life can get along just fine. Ghouls Rule was definitely released at the right time, since the movie is centered around Halloween, but I think that it would definitely make a great holiday gift as well! More then once, I have ended up in a hotel that was pretty "rough", had beds that looked like they had never been deep

Preparing for Sandy

Like many in the Northeast, we have spent the past few days preparing for Sandy. Most people know the basics, such as bottled water, food that doesn't require heating, and flashlights, but I am going to share some things that we have been doing that maybe some people haven't thought of!

-Frozen water: We filled as many gallon freezer bags as possible and laid them flat in the freezer. Filling the empty pockets with ice will help keep your food cold longer in case of a power outage. If the weather is too warm inside, the bags can also act as ice packs for coolers set outside. Most importantly, the ice can be melted for drinking water if you were to run out of bottled water.

-Water in containers: We filled every pitcher, empty juice bottle, and empty coffee can we could find with water. I wanted to have these containers of water set aside not only for cooking, but also for water for our dog. Many times people forget about their pets when they're trying to figure out how much water they should have on hand, don't forget about Fido!

-A packed overnight bag: Tonight I packed a bag with clothes, water, cash, and snacks. We are on a hill, so flooding will most likely not be an issue, and we are able to stay in our home with a power outage, but we are surrounded by over 500 trees. Many of the trees are now bare, so with the wind gusts reaching 60+MPH, falling trees are a very real fear.

-A place to go: In the event that we would need to evacuate our home, we have a plan. We have a list of 3 places to go, and we have multiple driving routes planned out for each, since we live around major rivers and streams.

During a major snowstorm in 2010 we were caught completely off guard- with a 3 month old to boot! We had to leave our house in 2 feet of snow because we didn't have a way to keep warm and we were unprepared with food and water. We certainly learned our lesson from that experience! I hope everyone stays war, dry, and safe during this storm!

This was such a different fall scent. It was light and airy, instead of the typical heavy bakery scents you usually see in the fall. The scent reminded me of a cool, crisp, sunny autumn day in the backyard. It is a very clean scent, perfect for a cool day when you're missing the fresh air from having the windows open!

I'll admit, I let the candle burn for a few hours at first, but I couldn't resist digging in for the ring! And it was worth it! I got a gorgeous silver tone ring with a large, clear stone in the center and smaller champagne colored stones on the sides. There are no markings- but it is absolutely beautiful, and best of all, it fits perfectly! I wore it to my sister's birthday party and got a ton of compliments!

2012 Holiday Gift Guide: Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar Review

Earlier this week my daughter and I got the chance review the new Barbie: The Princess & The Popstar DVD. I was really excited because I was a huge Barbie fan growing up, and now my daughter has been showing interest in Barbies. This movie QUICKLY became a hit! I absolutely loved it! The story line was adorable, both Tori and Keira have amazing lives, but are envious of each other. The girls each have a bit of magic, in the form of Tori's hairbrush and Keira's microphone, which allow them to change their appearance- thus ultimately switching places! I have to say that one of the funniest scenes is when Princess Tori used her hairbrush to give the Duchess all kinds of crazy hairstyles, like a mohawk.

I expected cute kid music, but I was singing right along the entire time! They used songs that all us moms know, and just changed them to make them appropriate for the movie. Its definitely a movie that mothers and daughters can watch together, and both enjoy! Even my husband sat down to watch it with us and was singing! My daughter absolutely fell in love with Keira's character. So much, that we went out and bought the costume- which she has been wearing everyday while watching this movie. Singing and dancing along will not get old to her! Here is Alexa in pretending to be Keira:

Preparing For Black Friday: Part 1

Welcome to my Preparing For Black Friday series! Whether you're a seasoned vet or a Black Friday virgin, you're going to want to prepare for the *big day* as much as possible!

Budget: Having a budget for Black Friday is so so important. The last thing you want is buyer's remorse once you see the credit card statement. Better yet, use cash or debit! Set your limit and STICK TO IT!

Creating A List: As the ads start to be leaked (keep you eyes peeled, I'll be posting them here!), start making a list of things that you think you may want to purchase. Once you have a list going, occasionally look up the products to see just how good of a 'deal' the Black Friday price is....remember, not every advertised 'deal' is guaranteed to be the lowest price!

The Buddy System: Now is the time to ask around with your friends and family to see who is willing to go shopping with you. Not only will having a buddy keep you sane- but it will keep you safe too! Theifs are more likely to target someone shopping alone rather than a couple or group of people. You may also want to ask around to see who else is planning on shopping with someone other than you. If you happen to be shopping different stores you may want to ask if they'll pick up items for you at stores you won't make it to, and you can do the same for them.
